Claremore's Tanner Steidley

It was almost like Claremore couldn’t miss from beyond the arc.

The Class 5A No. 10 Zebras knocked down 13 3-pointers Saturday afternoon en route to a 78-48 victory over Skiatook at the CHS Gym. Leading the perimeter barrage was the trio of Tanner Steidley, Kort Seidel and Caison Hartloff, combining for 12 of the 3-pointers with four apiece.

Steidley and Seidel weren’t limited to 3-points shots, though, finishing with 22 and 17 points, respectively. All 12 of Hartloff’s points came from long range.

Parker Hardage was the only Zebra to connect from deep outside of those three, finishing with three points.

Gannon Sherl came close to double figures as well, logging nine points. Michael McHugh and Matt Strickland had notable performances as well with six points apiece.

Claremore (10-4) led 13-11 after one quarter, but Steidley scored 17 of his 22 points in the second and third — including 10 in the second — to help open that advantage to 21 entering the fourth. The Zebras outscored Skiatook 43-24 during that spurt.

Alex Holloman and Kaden Neil led the Bulldogs (2-16) with nine points each while Ryan Kreder added eight.

The Zebras were scheduled to play at Coweta on Tuesday night, but that game was canceled because of inclement weather. Both the girls and boys return home at 6 and 7:30 p.m. Thursday against Grove.
