You have a chance to vote several local athletes as some of the best high school football players in the Tulsa area.

A total of 80 players — 10 at each position — were selected as candidates for the All-World Preseason Football Contest, and eight reside in Rogers County.

Claremore sports the majority of the local contenders.

Jace Hightower (RB), Dylan Kedzior (WR), Thomas Mason (DL), Mason Hayes (LB), Quentin Skinner (DB), Ryan Conner (K/P) and Christian Gotcher (K/P) are among those who made the initial cut.

Verdigris offensive lineman Austin Woods also made the list.

Nominees were picked based on past performance, projected 2019 accomplishments and college potential. Players from all grades are eligible for selection.

Voting began on June 2, and the candidates for each position will be cut to the top five vote-getters for each position on Aug. 1. Voting for the top five will continue through 3 p.m. on Aug. 13.

The winners will be announced in the Tulsa World sports section on Aug. 25.
