Both Claremore cross-country teams placed fifth overall Thursday in the Booker T. Washington Invitational at O’Brien Park in Tulsa.
Kate Bustamante and Carolina Stokes each finished in the top 20 to lead the Lady Zebras, who were part of a nine-team field. Bustamante placed 17th of 60 runners in the 5K race with a time of 22 minutes, 37.03 seconds while Stokes took 18th at 23:37.56.
Stailee Heard of Sapulpa won in 18:47.64. Claremore finished fifth with 140 points as Bartlesville took the team title with 41 points.
Ainsley Hendrickson (23:48.37), Charly Wilkerson (24:30.58) and Anika Miller (26:59.17) also earned points for the Lady Zebras.
Tyler Douthitt paced the boys with a time of 17:08.35 for a seventh-place finish while Sapulpa’s Mason Quinton clocked in at 16:42 to take the win.
Claremore placed fifth of eight teams with 134 points, and Bartlesville completed the team championship sweep with 42 points.
Dolton Scott was next for the Zebras in 30th at 19:24.69, and Justin Howard (19:29.14) and Aidan Boyd (19:31.10) were close behind with 31st- and 33rd-place finishes, respectively. Cedric Voss was Claremore’s final point earner, finishing in 20:01.15 to finish 38th.
The Zebras are slated to return to action at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Holland Hall in Tulsa.
