Claremore cross-country is state bound.

The girls and boys competed in the Class 5A East Regional meet at Case Community Park in Sand Springs on Saturday, securing spots for the state meet with top-five finishes.

Led by senior Laynie Nichols, the girls placed fifth of 12 teams with 158 points. Bishop Kelley won the team title with 23 points.

Jack Vincent led the boys to a fifth-place finish of 18 teams with 155 points, while Bishope Kelley took the top spot with 54 points.

Nichols finished second of 97 runners with a time of 20 minutes, 29 seconds in the 5K. Bishop Kelley’s Ella Eureste won the race in 20:15.

Vincent took second as well, clocking in at 17:04 to best 125 other runners. Trevor Sallee of Guthrie was the first individual to cross the finish line, finishing the race in 16:54.
