Sequoyah quarterback Blake Bedsworth carries the ball during a district game against Adair on Friday night.

In a devastating turn of events Tuesday afternoon, Sequoyah became the latest victim of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Two players tested positive for the coronavirus earlier this week, forcing the Eagles to forfeit their Class 2A first-round playoff game against Morris.

Sequoyah’s season has come to an untimely end at 7-2 and only four days after playing for the District 2A-8 championship. Morris advances to the second round in its place to play Beggs, whose first-round opponent also had to forfeit.

Unfortunately, the Eagles aren’t the only program to suffer this fate since the brackets were released Sunday.

As of Tuesday night, nine playoff games have been canceled because of COVID-19 issues. Four of those are in Class 2A.

Here is the list of every game that has been called off so thus far:

Durant at Collinsville (Collinsville advances)

Glenpool at McAlester (McAlester advances)

Bridge Creek at Sulphur (Sulphur advances)

Little Axe at Heritage Hall (HH advances)

Dewey at Beggs (Beggs advances)

Marietta at Community Christian (CC advances)

Panama at Atoka (Atoka advances)
