It is now Week 3 of the high school football season, and for the second-straight week, eight of the nine high school football teams in Rogers County are competing on the gridiron.

Claremore hosts Edison in the Progress Game of the Week, and Verdigris, Claremore Christian, Foyil and Catoosa are also at home with a chance to tidy some things up before the beginning of district play next week.

Inola, Chelsea and Oologah are playing on the road.

Sequoyah has a much-needed bye week after falling to 0-3 with losses to Miami, Hilldale and Sperry to open the season.

Spreads are based on score predictions from The Oklahoman.

Here is everything you need to know about tonight’s games:

EDISON AT CLAREMORE

When: 7 p.m.

Place: Lantow Field

Records & Rankings: Edison 1-1, No. 5 Class 5A; Claremore 1-1, No. 7 Class 5A

Spread: Edison minus-14

Need to know: Claremore is reeling after letting a 10-point second-quarter lead slip in a 49-24 loss to Sapulpa in the Zebras’ home opener.

Jace Hightower saw limited carries, finishing with 67 yards rushing and a touchdown on 14 carries while also catching a 33-yard touchdown pass.

His role is expected to increase in his second game since dislocating his left elbow on Aug. 29.

Edison running back Sevion Morrison, who is committed to Nebraska, broke the school record for career yards rushing — set by Spencer Tillman — during the Eagles’ 67-0 rout of Memorial last week.

His current number — 4,087 yards — bested Tillman’s mark of 4,009 yards.

Claremore is the only team to limit Morrison to less than 100 yards in a game last season, holding him to 200 yards on 33 carries in two matchups.

Last time: Claremore 23, Edison 21; Claremore 34, Edison 7

Prediction: Edison 37, Claremore 31

STILWELL AT VERDIGRIS

When: 7 p.m.

Place: Cardinals Stadium

Records & Rankings: Stilwell 0-2, unranked; Verdigris 1-1, No. 15 Class 3A

Spread: Verdigris minus-42

Need to know: The Cardinals shocked the state by hanging 72 points on Victory Christian in a 59-point win last week.

Verdigris stifled the Conquerors with six turnovers, and it looks to do the same against a Stilwell team that hasn’t won a game since Nov. 3, 2017.

The Indians lost a low-scoring affair with East Central last week, 7-0.

Last time: Stilwell 29, Verdigris 21 (2013)

Prediction: Verdigris 55, Stilwell 7

PRUE AT CLAREMORE CHRISTIAN

When: 7 p.m.

Place: Warriors Field

Records & Rankings: Prue 2-1, unranked; Claremore Christian: 2-1, unranked

Spread: Claremore Christian minus-24

Need to know: The Warriors were tested for the first time last week, dropping a 76-56 decision to Sasakwa.

Meanwhile, Prue bounced back from a 53-6 loss to Class B No. 2 Regent Prep in Week 1 with an 83-34 victory over Deer Creek-Lamont.

Both teams are looking to prove themselves, so look for a good ole eight-man shootout.

Last time: Prue 40, Claremore Christian 28

Prediction: Prue 54, Claremore Christian 40

INOLA AT WYANDOTTE

When: 7 p.m.

Place: 5 1st St., Wyandotte

Records & Rankings: Inola 1-1, unranked; Wyandotte 1-1, unranked

Spread: Wyandotte minus-4

Need to know: Inola is somehow an underdog heading into this matchup despite rolling Salina, 41-8, last week.

Wyandotte lost to Quapaw, 20-6.

This could be a close game early, but the Longhorns shouldn’t have a problem pulling away as the game progresses.

Last time: Inola 43, Wyandotte 0

Prediction: Inola 35, Wyandotte 20

CHELSEA AT QUAPAW

When: 7 p.m.

Place: 305 W 1st St., Quapaw

Records & Rankings: Chelsea 1-1, unranked; Quapaw 1-1, unranked

Spread: Quapaw minus-2

Need to know: Chelsea saw an early lead slip away in a 27-14 loss to Fairland last week, while Quapaw handled Wyandotte, 20-6.

Wyandotte beat Fairland, 43-26, in Week 1.

Comparing scores is dangerous, but if there is any legitimacy to the science, it could be a long night for the Green Dragons.

Last time: Quapaw 46, Chelsea 20

Prediction: Quapaw 42, Chelsea 8

WELCH AT FOYIL

When: 7 p.m.

Place: Panthers Field

Records & Rankings: Welch 0-3, unranked; Foyil 1-2, unranked

Spread: Foyil minus-16

Need to know: Both teams have several blowout losses, and neither has shown the ability to score the football on a consistent basis.

With five games between them, these teams combined for only 30 points.

Foyil’s one win came via forfeit last week, while Welch lost to South Coffeyville, 19-6.

Last time: Foyil via forfeit

Prediction: Foyil 26, Welch 13

OOLOGAH AT HILLDALE

When: 7 p.m.

Place: 300 E Smith Ferry Rd., Muskogee

Records & Rankings: Oologah 2-0, No. 5 Class 4A; Hilldale 1-1, No. 12 Class 4A

Spread: Oologah minus-4

Need to know: Oologah beat its second-straight 5A opponent last week in a 34-29 win over Skiatook, while Hilldale dropped a 35-28 decision to Checotah, which has proven to be a surprise team in Class 3A this year.

Both teams are fairly stout, so this could be a classic ground-and-pound matchup won in the trenches.

Last time: Hilldale 23, Oologah 19

Prediction: Oologah 24, Hilldale 21

COWETA AT CATOOSA

When: 7 p.m.

Place: McNabb Field

Records & Rankings: Coweta 0-2, unranked; Catoosa 0-2, unranked

Spread: Coweta minus-4

Need to know: Catoosa has 21 points through two games, including only seven last week in a 19-point loss to Glenpool.

Meanwhile, Coweta nearly upset Tahlequah — which is now ranked fourth in Class 5A — in a 9-7 decision.

Last time: Catoosa 48, Coweta 20

Prediction: Coweta 35, Catoosa 13
