BETHANY — Foyil’s fantastic voyage came to an end Friday night.

Oklahoma Christian School, led by McDonald’s All-American Blake Griffin, stopped the Panthers’ improbable run with a 78-48 victory at the Sawyer Center on the campus of Southern Nazarene University.

Foyil’s first high school state tournament appearance since 1976 ended in the Class 2A semifinals.

And it came at the hands of one of the state’s premier players, Griffin.

The 6-9 senior, who was the Most Valuable Player in the 2006 state tournament when the Saints won their third consecutive championship, scored 34 points, collected 20 rebounds and blocked 10 shots.

OCS moved on to the championship game Saturday night against Pawnee. The Black Bears, led by junior guard Keiton Page, set a state tournament scoring record in a 111-60 rout of Oktaha. The previous mark, held by Stringtown, was 108 established in 1983.

Griffin enabled OCS to get off to a quick start, scoring 11 points in a 21-12 first quarter.

By halftime, OCS had pushed its lead to 44-28.

Five players fouled out for Foyil.

Under second-year coach Jason Ward, the Panthers reached the state semifinals by winning 10 of their final 11 games.

But then came Griffin and the Saints. Griffin, who will join his older brother at the University of Oklahoma next fall, shut down the Panthers.

Taylor Antle was the lone scoring threat for Foyil, which concluded its season with a 19-9 record.

Antle scored 22 points, after putting up 14 in the first-round win over Washington.
