Spring sports championships continued around the state this week with boys golf on Monday and Tuesday and the conclusion of girls tennis on Tuesday.
Claremore shot 339 and 316 on Monday and 343 on Tuesday in Class 5A at Lawton Country Club. Trenton Strawderman had the lowest overall individual score (82, 77, 81).
Sequoyah got better each round in Class 3A at Tulsa Country Club (352 and 346 on Monday and 339 on Tuesday). Talon Funk had rounds of 73, 75, and 77 en route to an eighth place finish.
Carson Stookey of Inola qualified in 3A as an individual. He shot 78, 81 on Monday and 79 on Tuesday.
Oologah shot 370 and 350 on Monday, and bettered that on Tuesday with 341 in Class 4A at Dornick Hills Country Club in Ardmore. Soulai Vang had the best individual score with rounds of 86, 82 and 79.
Girls tennis wrapped on Tuesday after weather issues last Friday. Claremore was involved in three placement matches in Class 5A and won all of them.
Both doubles matches went three sets. Madison Rust and Sterling Sisovsky beat Carl Albert 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 in #1 doubles while Morgan Choat and Daley Reynolds toppled Duncan 6-7, 7-6, 6-1 in #2 doubles..
Abbey Cox cruised past Auna Redwine of Ada 6-2, 6-3 in the seventh place match in #2 singles.
Micaela McSpadden of Oologah dropped a hard fought 3-set match to Harding Charter Prep's Carolyn Jarrett (4-6, 6-4, 7-5) for third place in Class 4A #1 singles.
