The Oologah wrestling team is hosting the first annual Oologah Mustang Fishing Challenge on Aug. 4 on Oologah Lake.

Fishermen and women may enter either the Open Jackpot or the Family Fun Event.

The Open Jackpot costs $75 per boat and has a four-fist limit. Check-in and pay will begin at 5 a.m. the day of the competition at the Hawthorne Ramp.

Weigh-in occurs at 1 p.m., with the winners earning a 70 percent payback. $5 goes to Big Bass Pot, $20 to the Oologah Wrestling Club and $50 to the payout.

Those wishing to participate in the Family Fun Event must pay $35 per team. Teams may consist up to four members.

Check-in and pay for the 10-fish limit competition runs from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. at the Hawthorne Ramp.

Weigh-in begins at 11 a.m., and all species of fish are eligible. However, fish must be caught on a rod and reel.

Participants may use live or artificial bait, and fish caught in any Northeast Oklahoma public or private water are allowed at weigh-in.

All fish will be surrendered upon the weigh-in.

Prizes will be rewarded for the heaviest single fish and the heaviest total weight.

Don’t worry about getting hungry, either.

Burger baskets for $5 will be on sale starting at 10:45 a.m.

All proceeds will support the Oologah Wrestling Booster Club.
