In 1971 began the gymnastics journey for Judy Tucker, and it was started with one question.

Knowing that she cannot be still all summer long without something to do, her late husband Charles Tucker said, “Judy, are you going to get a summer job when school is out?”

That inspired Judy to call Mr. John Coble at Claremore Junior College (CJC) now Rogers State College, and Gymnastics City grew from there. After a few years at CJC, she packed up and moved to the new National Guard Armory on Blue Starr Dr.

After about 12 years, it was time to build her gym in 1993. The 10,000 square-foot building was perfect at the time.

But, slowly it was getting smaller and smaller, so.

Finally, in 2006 she built the current location, a 20,500 square-foot building, with the help of her kids, Jamie Tucker Bell and Kent Tucker. She has been able to provide gymnastics for thousands of families over the years.

Judy is also a retired school teacher, teaching physical education in Tulsa and Claremore Public Schools for more than 33 years.

Her legacy still continues at Gymnastics City. She may no longer operate the daily tasks at Gymnastics City, but the kids in our community still have a great place to do gymnastics.

She walked away from the business in 2015, but Kent and Traci Tucker have been the owners since then and have continued to see growth every year.

Fifty years in Claremore in the same business teaching grandkids of former gymnasts is a great feeling, and we are excited about the next 50 years. We all know we wouldn’t be in this great facility if it wasn’t for all the hard work and dedication mom put into the business.

We are extremely grateful to all the families that have helped and supported our business for the last 50 years.

We are sponsoring a 50th Anniversary Open Gym Celebration and Reunion on Saturday, June 12th at 12:30-2:30 p.m. We welcome past and current gymnasts, coaches and families to stop by and share a moment with our founder Judy Tucker and stick around for all the fun.

If kids want to participate in the Open Gym, please visit our website and register your kiddos today.
