INDIANAPOLIS – Rogers State Baseball was named the No. 6 seed in the South Central Regional Sunday evening during the NCAA Selection Show.
The Hillcats will face No. 3 seed Lubbock Christian in the opening round on Thursday, May 16. The opening round game will be at 7 p.m. at Angelo State University.
The matchup puts the Heartland Conference Regular Season Champions of Lubbock Christian up against the Heartland Conference Tournament Champions of Rogers State.
Angelo State is the No. 2 seed and the third and final team in the opening weekend bracket. They will play the loser of the opening game in the second matchup of the weekend, with that game being played at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 17.
The winner of the opening game will face the winner of the second game at 7:00 p.m. on May 17 to conclude day two of the regional.
The winner of the regional will be matched up with the winner of the other South Central trio in the South Central regional final the following week, with a spot in the College World Series on the line.
Rogers State earned the automatic qualifier after winning the 2019 Heartland Conference Tournament Championship in their tournament debut on Saturday, defeating six-time defending champions St. Edward's 4-3.
The Hillcats are 20-15 all-time in postseason play. The Hillcats last trip to a national tournament came in 2013 when Rogers State reached Avista-NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho in their final season in the NAIA. That season, the Hillcats defeated Lubbock Christian twice, including in the Regional Championship game to make it to the World Series.
