The Hillcats are doing their part to ensure Rogers County is blanketed in white one last time this winter.

The Rogers State athletic department is set to host its second annual “White Out” as part of Saturday’s final home basketball games at the Claremore Expo. Every fan who attends the Cats’ showdown with Oklahoma Christian will receive a free Hillcat T-shirt. The popular giveaway is co-sponsored by 1st Bank Oklahoma and Pixley Lumber Company.

“The white out game is an exciting new tradition that our fans really bought into last season,” said Wren Baker, RSU athletics director. “Saturday’s games are critical for both our teams and we’re hopeful the community will really come out and support them in their last home appearances of the year.”

Both RSU men’s and women’s teams enter the final week of the regular season with high hopes of securing an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament. The Hillcat women are ranked No. 22 in the latest NAIA National Coaches’ Poll and can likely lockdown their first invitation to the Big Dance with a win Saturday night. The RSU men need two wins this week to remain in contention for a second straight trip to the tournament.

Claremore product Jenny Hardin has spurred the Cats to their first 20-win season by averaging nearly 14 points and six rebounds per game during her lone season at RSU. Men’s senior Sylvester Spicer looks to closeout a stellar career in style after recording his 1,000th career point last week against Wayland Baptist. The Hillcats will honor their six departing seniors at halftime of the men’s contest Saturday night.

Patrons of last season’s inaugural “White Out” game witnessed No. 1 RSU knock off No. 2 Oklahoma Baptist to claim the Sooner Athletic Conference championship in front of a capacity crowd of more than 2,100. Saturday’s giveaway is the culmination of more than a month of promotional efforts by the RSU athletic department. The Hillcats have treated fans to over 4,500 giveaway items over the course of their final six home games with the help of 1st Bank Oklahoma, Pixley Lumber and Pelco Structural.

Tip-off of the women’s game Saturday is scheduled for 6 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 8 p.m. Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $4 for students. Children eight-and-under are admitted free of charge.
