The University of Arkansas softball team, with an overall record of 18-16 and a Southeastern Conference record of 2-12, will play host to the Mississippi State Bulldogs in a three-game series beginning with a doubleheader on Friday at 3/5 p.m.

Arkansas is led by sophomore shortstop Clarisa Navarro who is averaging .350 at the plate in SEC play. She has recorded 14 hits, including one home run and 18 total bases in 14 games. Not only is she an offensive threat, she leads the team in assists with 26 in SEC play.

Junior Chelsea Cohen has appeared in the circle in 11 of the 14 SEC games while starting nine. Cohen has pitched a total of 53.2 innings in conference play while racking up 26 strikeouts.

Mississippi State has an overall record of 19-18 and 3-13 in the SEC. The Bulldogs are coming off a weekend at No. 2 Alabama where they tested the highly-ranked Crimson Tide, scoring nine runs on Alabama in three games. While the Bulldogs went 0-3 against the Tide they gave a valiant effort all weekend.

"This is a big series for us this weekend," says head coach Mike Larabee. "We need to have our pitchers throw some solid games, we need to come out and make the routine plays on defense and then grab some timely hits to come out on top against the Bulldogs."

This will be the 53rd -55th meetings between the two programs with Mississippi State leading the series 29-23 as well as taking the last series 3-0 in 2011 in Starkville, Miss.

The series begins on Friday with a doubleheader at 3/5 p.m. with the final game Saturday at noon. There will be a live blog and live stats available on
