Hilaire's Late 3 Propels Hillcats to Win over RiverHawks

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Senior Saint Hilaire hit a 3-pointer with only seconds remaining to propel the Rogers State men's basketball team to a 71-66 win over in-state rival Northeastern State on Wednesday (Nov. 14) night at the Claremore Expo Center.

With the score tied at 66-66, Hilaire knocked down the triple from the right wing with less than two seconds left to give the navy and red a 69-66 lead.

After a turnover on a deep pass, Tavian Davis was fouled and made two free throws with one second left for the final 71-66 margin.

The Hillcats (2-1) moved to 6-0 all-time against Northeastern dating back to 2008. RSU is 3-0 at the Claremore Expo Center against the RiverHawks.

The 3-pointer capped a large second-half rally for RSU. The Hillcats trailed by their largest deficit of the second half at 55-42 with 11:55 remaining, but the Cats went on a 17-2 run over the next seven minutes and gained a 59-57 advantage on a Tate Turner layup with 4:48 on the clock.

Chase Littlejohn began the run with five straight points before Latrell Tidwell took over with eight of the next nine points in the spurt. The senior forward pulled RSU to within one point as his layup made it 57-56 with 5:53 left.

Tidwell upped the RSU lead to 66-62 with 2:08 remaining on a layup, but the RiverHawks evened the score at 66-66 with back-to-back layups to set up the dramatic finish.

Tidwell finished with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds off the bench to pace the Hillcats. Davis went for 11 points and a game-high six assists.

In the second half, RSU shot 52 percent (13-25) from the field to finish at 43.1 percent (25-58) for the game. NSU went 23-of-52 from the floor for 44.2 percent.

Tanner Mouse registered a game-high 20 points, and Caleb Smith added 18 points and eight rebounds for the RiverHawks.
