The baseball season came to a close for Chelsea at the hands of Lincoln Christian in the Class 3A district playoffs Thursday afternoon at John Howerton Field.

The Bulldogs edged the Green Dragons 4-3 in nine innings in the opener.  

Lincoln Christian then won 8-5 in the second game.

Chelsea finished 16-12.

The Bulldogs (7-19) advance to the regionals set to begin next Thursday.

Game 1: Lincoln Christian 4, Chelsea 3 (9 innings)

The Bulldogs rallied to topple the Green Dragons.  Austin Grauer drew a bases loaded walk with one out for the game winner.

Chelsea scored a run in the top of the first inning.  

Dalion Theall drew a leadoff walk and eventually scored when he stole home.

Lincoln Christian tied it with a run in the bottom of the second inning but the Green Dragons countered with a pair of runs in the top of the third.

Austin Gill walked to open the frame, stole second base, and scored on Theall's single to right field.  Theall was out after Brent Hunt hit into a fielder's choice.

Hunt, however, stole second and came home a little later when David Hubler doubled down the right field line.

The Bulldogs drew even on three consecutive hits with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning.  

Game 2: Lincoln Christian 8, Chelsea 5

The game was tight early but the Bulldogs finally started to pull away after they scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Lincoln Christian led 1-0 after an inning.  

The Green Dragons tied it in the top of the second.  James Kelso singled to left two outs and eventually scored after a pair of passed balls and a wild pitch.

The Bulldogs countered with a run in the bottom half of the second inning.  Chelsea battled back again though to tie it at 2-2 in the top of the third.

Kennedy Lockhart walked to open the frame.  He scored a little later after stealing third and then came home on an error.
