Claremore High School and Will Rogers Junior High band students went to Catoosa on Nov. 3 for the Green Country Band Directors Association honor band auditions.
GCBDA is made up of schools from across Green Country and those who made the honor band will travel to Claremore’s Robson Performing Arts Center on Jan. 25-26 for a clinic and concert.
Students who chosen to perform with the GCBDA honor band are:
7th Graders: Matthew Bains, Mariah Chartier, Samantha Cornett, Ben Green, Erika Hernandez-Serrano, Olivia Jackson, Thomas Leinweber, Zaber Matin, Jayce McCaslin, Sonia Plumboy, Kallah Stewart, Harley Vernon, Owen Wilson and Alternate: Kara Atzbach.
8th Graders: Tate Helper, Sadie McSpadden, Morgan Murray, Avery Reyes, Lauren Simmons, Mason Spurlock, Jackson Terhune, and Nathan Thorne.
9th Graders: Shane Atchley, Luke Buzzelli, Laura Karramitis, Caelan Niece, Faith Wallace and alternate, Coleby Craig.
High school Honor Band: Katie Bains, Maria Bustamante, Dayton Bywaters, Alyson Harvey, Megan Hering, Zachary Hughes, Parker McElwain, Samuel Philpot, Hayden Rhoades, William Schubert, Alessandra Thompson, and Alternates Joshua Burkett, Ashley Evans, Niko Ilyushenko and Jaycie Kimball.
GCBDA was also the first round of All-State tryouts for the 10th - 12th graders. The following students passed on to the final round of All-State auditions which will be held at Westmoore High School on Dec. 2 — Katie Bains - clarinet, Maria Bustamante -clarinet, Ashley Evans - trumpet, Alyson Harvey -clarinet, Megan Hering - flute and piccolo, Zach Hughes - French horn, Alex Jochmans - trombone, Parker McElwain - trumpet, Samuel Philpot - trumpet, Hayden Rhoades - clarinet and alto saxophone, William Schubert - euphonium, Alessandra Thompson - clarinet, Dylan Ward - trombone and tuba.
