CLAREMORE, Okla. – The most successful team in Rogers State men's basketball history will be honored during the homecoming women's basketball game on Saturday at the Claremore Expo Center. The 2008-09 Hillcat team will be coming back to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of their 30-2 season.

In only the second season in program history, the Hillcats posted a 30-2 record under head coach Lloyd Williams, setting the record for most wins and highest winning percentage in program history. The navy and red won the Sooner Athletic Conference regular season championship as the Cats went 21-1 in league play. RSU went on to win the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament and the team advanced to the NAIA Division I National Tournament for the first time in program history.

The Hillcats were ranked No. 1 in the country in NAIA Division I for the final seven weeks of the regular season.

The 30 wins are the most victories in program history with the .938 winning percentage the highest in the history of the program. The Hillcats won a school-record 17 straight games before their season ended in the NAIA National Tournament.

Eric Young and Sylvester Spicer became the first Hillcats to earn All-American honors. Young led the team in scoring and rebounding during his junior season, pouring in 14.4 points and pulling down 6.0 rebounds per game. Along with being an All-American, Young earned first team all-conference honors and was named to the SAC All-Tournament Team. Spicer averaged 13.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game and was named all-conference second team. He was named MVP of the SAC Tournament as well.

Lloyd Williams was named the Sooner Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, and five Hillcats were named all-conference. Along with Young and Spicer, Roderick Rodgers, Deveric Taylor and Aldric Reynolds garnered all-league recognition. Young, Spicer and Chris Francis were named to the Sooner Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team.

The team will be honored and presented with championship rings during halftime of the women's basketball game against Ecclesia College on Saturday.
