The Rogers State baseball team was recently named an American Baseball Coaches Association Team Academic Excellence Award winner for the 2019-20 season.
The Hillcats claim the academic honor for the fourth-consecutive season, a distinction that just a few schools in the NCAA can claim.
Rogers State is one of 55 NCAA Division II teams to earn the honor and just one of two teams from the MIAA to receive the award this year. The Hillcats were just one of two teams from the association to receive the honor in 2018-19 as well.
To qualify for the award, a team must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale during the 2019-20 academic year.
The Hillcats completed the year with a 3.24 GPA, earning a slightly higher GPA than last season's 3.22.
The American Baseball Coaches Association has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes.
The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/Diamond Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.
