After posting 20-win seasons, the Rogers State University men’s and women’s basketball programs will celebrate a successful season while finding out who they will face in the opening rounds of the NAIA National Tournament with a selection show watch party on Wednesday at the RSU campus.

Both teams will learn who their opponent will be and want all of Hillcat Nation to join with a special selection show party inside the Health Sciences building room 135, located on the first floor across from the atrium.

Doors will open at 5:45 p.m. with the women’s show starting at 6 p.m. The men’s selection show will take place at 7 p.m. with both teams on hand to celebrate with the community, faculty, staff and students. The RSU athletic department will provide pizza and drinks as the Hillcats learn of their first foe on the way to cutting down the nets.

This marks the first time in the history of Hillcat Athletics that both the men’s and women’s teams will head to the National Tournament.

Coach Justin Barkley’s squad closed out the season, winning 15 of its last 20 contests.

Along the way, RSU defeated No. 10 Oklahoma Baptist and then No. 12 Southern Nazarene in a week’s time.

The men are ranked No. 25 in the most recent NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.

For the second time in the program’s short four-year history, the Hillcats will return to Kansas City, Mo., site of the Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship.

Head coach Amy Williams and the women will head to Jackson, Tenn., for the first time in program history after tallying its best record in program history at 23-9.

RSU reached the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament Finals for the first time and finished the season winning 16 of the last 21 games.

The Hillcats defeated No. 2 Oklahoma City, No. 15 Langston University and No. 22 Lubbock Christian through the best season in program history.
