NEW ORLEANS – Five members of the Rogers State Track & Field team earned All-South Central Region honors for the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field season, announced the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday.
Overall, the Hillcats earned eight all-region awards, as the top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned all-region honors, in addition to each of the members of the region's top-3 relay teams.
Alfred Thomas, who qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in two individual events, earned all-region awards both events, the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash.
Joining Thomas on the all-region team for the 4x100-meter relay are Quintin Powell, Jacques Morgan and D'Jiron Lilley. The group, which had the third fastest time in the region, will also compete at the national championships.
Powell also earned all-region honors in the 400-meter dash, running the fourth best time in the south central.
Baffour Kyem earned the other all-region honor for the Hillcats. The freshman earned it for having the fifth best distance in the triple jump.
The Hillcats will wrap up the season in the three aforementioned events at the national championship event from May 23-25.
