Oklahoma Baptist dropped to 1-3 in the Sooner Athletic Conference after an 81-68 loss at Wayland Baptist Thursday.
Facing the nation's leading three-point shooter in Barry Johnson, the Bison won that battle but lost inside and at the free throw line. OBU held Johnson to 1-of-9 shooting from the arch, tempering his 56 percent season shooting.
But Markus Monroe penetrated the OBU defense to the tune of 31 points, including several dunks.
OBU was out-rebounded 45-33, allowing 14 offensive rebounds.
Aaron Abram led the Bison with 26 points and 13 rebounds.
"We just got out-played tonight," said OBU Coach Doug Tolin. "Aaron played a good game, but we need more people to step up with good games."
OBU trailed only 26-23 late in the first half but got two quick turnovers and Johnson hit his only three-pointer as time expired in the half to give WBU a 33-23 lead.
Wayland got the lead quickly to 18 points and the Pioneers led by as many as 24 points.
Joining Abram in double figures in scoring was Morris Woods with 17 points.
Now 7-7 overall, the Bison play at Oklahoma City Thursday at 8 p.m.
