GREENWOOD, Ind. – Senior goalkeeper Taylor Sargent was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team as announced on Thursday (Nov. 8) by CoSIDA.
Sargent, a senior goalkeeper from The Colony, Texas, garnered Google Cloud Academic All-District honors in District 6 that includes members of the Heartland, Lone Star and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conferences. Sargent started in all 18 games in 2018 with nine shutouts. Sargent was named All-Heartland Conference Second Team and the Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week four times. She played the most minutes of any Hillcat with 1,669 minutes played in goal. The senior totaled 73 saves for an 82.0 save percentage. Sargent allowed only 16 goals in the 18 games for a 0.86 goals against average. For her two-year career at RSU, Sargent started in all 38 games and played 3,534 minutes. She totaled a 0.71 goals against average with 154 saves and an 84.6 save percentage. She went 23-10-5 in goal in her career with 20 shutouts. Sargent was named All-Heartland Conference three times, including Preseason All-Heartland this season. She garnered all-region honors twice and was named the league player of the week seven times in her two-year career.
In the classroom, Sargent holds a 3.95 grade point average while studying medical and molecular biology at RSU.
Sargent advances to the Google Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handing the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America programs.
