Verdigris baseball stayed undefeated in summer league play with victories over Sequoyah and Adair this week.
The Cardinals (3-0) completed the sweep of Sequoyah with an 8-0 win on Monday, and they then took down Adair by the same score on Wednesday.
Verdigris used three pitchers to shutout the Eagles. Aaron Buntin picked up the win on the mound, striking out two while allowing two hits in 2.0 innings.
The Cardinals went Austin Neal and Riley Pearce in the bullpen to close the game, and the pair combined for five strikeouts, all by Neal, and only one hit.
Toby Willis, Sloan Roller and Evan Anderson all knocked in runs, while Neal and an unnamed player tallied the team’s other two hits for a total of five.
Verdigris stole four bases and didn’t commit an error in the win.
The Cardinals jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings against Adair before doubling that total in the fourth inning behind five hits, including two doubles and a triple.
Tye Moore, Tye Haddock, Jax, Willis and Roller each managed one hit. Moore leading the way with two RBIs, both of which came on a triple in the fourth inning.
Colton Anderson pitched Verdigris to victory, striking out two with no walks while surrendering one hit through 2.0 innings.
Jackson Thies pitched the final three innings in relief, striking out four with no hits allowed.
