WACO, Texas – Rogers State senior Tate Turner earned Heartland Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors after leading the Hillcats to a pair of wins at St. Mary's and Texas A&M International.
Turner had a career high 23 points at St. Mary's, helping Rogers State come from behind to force overtime before winning in the extra period. Turner made six field goals from the floor, including a three pointer, along with 10 free throws.
The Independence, Kansas native then scored 19 points on 4-of-6 shooting at Texas A&M International with 10 more free throws.
Turner shot 20-of-24 from the free throw line during the week and added four rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals.
The senior guard is averaging 13.1 points per game this season which ranks 11th in the conference. This is Turner's first player of the week award.
