COWETA - The seventh-ranked Claremore Lady Zebras fell in a sweep against the ninth-ranked Coweta Lady Tigers -- 13-25, 16-25, 19-25 -- in a key Class 5A volleyball match Tuesday night.

Claremore is now 17-13 overall. The next action for the Zebras will be in its home tournament Friday and Saturday.

Coweta came out with fast starts in each set and also used several key runs in improving its overall record to 14-12.

The Lady Tigers got the first six points of the opening set. Claremore had the next two points but got no closer than that the rest of the frame.

The Lady Zebras got their lone lead of the night after a marathon opening point of the second set. After ties at 1-1 and 2-2, Coweta scored the next three points and eventually built a 13-6 advantage.

Claremore battled back within 15-13, though, thanks to some solid overall play from Ella Irvin and Agustina Munoz

Coweta replied with four-straight points and pulled away from there for the remainder of the set.

The Lady Tigers opened the final set with 10-consecutive points. The Lady Zebras were eventually down 20-12 but made one last push with five-straight points.

Claire Hardage, Hannah Dorsey and Irvin were all keys in that spurt. Coweta was able to withstand that rally though and eventually complete its sweep.

Irvin had seven kills and one ace, and Hardage had five kills.
