Claremore volleyball nearly upset Class 5A No. 1 Victory Christian on Tuesday night.

The Lady Zebras led after three sets, but the Conquerors took the final two to send coach Victoria Giron’s squad home with a 3-2 loss — 16-25, 25-19, 25-19, 24-26, 14-16.

It was Claremore’s third loss of the season to Victory Christian.

Despite the defeat, several Lady Zebras stood out on the stat sheet.

Maddie Hardage tallied 11 kills, seven blocks and two aces, and Brooke Jones was equally impressive with 11 kills, three blocks and 12 digs.

Hailey Charles wasn’t far behind that duo, accounting for 10 kills and four blocks. Hailey Grant had three kills and eight blocks.

Riley Renfroe had a nice night serving, recording seven aces to go along with her 29 assists.

Elsewhere, Becca Hilmes tallied three aces and 17 digs, while Kinley Williams notched two aces and eight digs.

No. 5 Claremore (15-7) travels to Class 4A No. 13 Berryhill 7 p.m. on Thursday.
