Verdigris volleyball defeated Rogers County foe Sequoyah in four sets — 22-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-23 — on Thursday night.
The Lady Cardinals (17-9) have won nine of the last 11 matches since losing consecutive meetings with Summit Christian and Oologah on Aug. 31 and Sept. 3.
Meanwhile, the loss ended the Lady Eagles’ two-match winning streak. Sequoyah (7-9) has now lost four of its last six matches.
Leading the way for Verdigris was Morgan Borgstadt, who notched 16 kills, three digs, two blocks and two aces.
Lily Scott was next in line with 10 kills, and Logan Hamilton was close behind with nine kills and 11 digs.
Madi York had an impressive showing as well, tallying five kills, five digs and three aces.
Emma Stout finished with 10 digs and three aces, while Abby Barnes had 16 digs.
Savanna Yoder had two aces.
Alice Migliorini led Sequoyah with 11 kills, two aces, three blocks and 20 digs, while Taygen Scrivner had eight kills, three aces and 11 digs.
Elsewhere, Chyandra Teague recorded 37 assists, nine digs, three kills and two aces. Sarah Shearer notched four aces and 31 digs.
Verdigris hits the road to take on Berryhill on Tuesday, while the Lady Eagles host Inola on Monday. Both contests are slated to begin at about 7 p.m.
