The hits (and runs) just keep on coming for the Claremore Zebras. For the third straight game, the Z’s sprayed the field with a bevy of singles and recorded a 14-1 run-ruled five-inning victory over Glenpool Monday at Legion Field.
Now 4-0, Claremore cracked 12 hits with eight of nine batters in the lineup getting at lease one. Brooks Shirl, Cooper Dotson and Jake Gilmore each punched two singles with Noah Smallwood adding a two-run triple.
Starter and winner Daisen Tilley tossed four innings with Tristan Hampton finishing up as the pair combined for a strikeout, two walks and three hits allowed.
After Glenpool (1-5) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Josh Roberts’ run-scoring double, the Zebras got all the runs they would need in the bottom of the frame. Twelve batters stepped to the plate, powering the home team to six runs on six hits, coupled with three Warrior errors.
Cooper Dotson punched a single into right field, scoring Brooks Shirl, producing a 1-1 tie. Dylan Gettinger followed with another hit to right, driving in courtesy runner Cash Flegal with the go-ahead score. The lead jumped to 4-1 after Brady Priess’ base hit plated Gettinger and Priess bolted home on a Glenpool throwing error.
Still not finished, the Zebras added two runs on a fielder’s choice off Eaton Phillips’ bat and an RBI single by Dotson, his second hit of the inning.
Claremore poured on five runs in the third and three in the fourth to close it out. Phillips cranked a two-run single, making it 8-1, Jake Gilmore knocked in Phillips and Smallwood slammed a triple to account for Matt Wofford and Gilmore.
Ahead 11-1, the Zebras pushed across three runs in the fourth. Gilmore scored on a bases loaded hit by pitcher, pinch hitter Flegal drove in Smallwood with a single and Shirl tallied on an infield ground out by Priess.
